This specialised course looks specifically at lithium batteries - both ion and metal, as well as lithium batteries contained in or packed with equipment – and covers the frequent changes introduced to legislation over recent years.

Delegates will learn about:

  • The regulatory framework - UN / ICAO / IATA / ADR & IMDG
  • Lithium ion and lithium metal batteries - UN 3090, UN 3091, UN 3480 and UN 3481
  • Lithium batteries packed with equipment or contained in equipment
  • State of charge
  • Proper shipping names
  • Special provisions
  • Packaging requirements
  • Marking and labelling a shipment
  • Preparing the documentation - shipper’s declaration and the dangerous goods note
  • Transport categories

The course is fully approved in the UK by the Civil Aviation Authority, and concludes with an open book validation. Successful candidates receive a certificate of competence, valid for two years, after which they must revalidate their qualification.
