Dangerous
Goods Awareness for Packers (1 day)
This is
a practical course built around your products. You supply us with
details of what you ship and we then come and run through the relevant
packing requirements with you. At the end of the course, delegates
know how to pack the products for air, road and sea transport. We
also cover the limited quantities rules that can save a great deal
on packaging costs. The session is divided between a classroom session
and practice in packing your products.
Carriage
of Dangerous Goods by Road & Sea (1
or 2 days)
We can adapt
this course to cover your products. In one or two days, we can introduce
delegates to both ADR and IMDG regulations and design the course
around your specific products. So, whether you ship perfumery products
or pesticides, we can tailor the course to your requirements.
Carriage
of Dry Ice by Air and Road (1 day)
This course
will cover all you need to know to ship dry ice, looking at the
packing, labelling, marking and documentation required. We
can adapt the course to cover the particular modes that are of interest
to you.
Awareness Training in the Carriage of Dangerous
Goods by Air (& Category 9) (1
day)
You want
to recognise undeclared dangerous goods, as there are more incidents
with these than any other category of dangerous goods. You want
to be familiar with the labels on packages and want to have an introduction
to the IATA regulations. Then the Awareness Training in the Carriage
of Dangerous Goods by Air is the course for you. For airlines, we
also offer Category 9 training.
This course
is an essential introduction to the air regulations covering the
classes, packing groups and dangerous goods list as well as marking
and labelling. We deliver this course in-h ouse and it is tailored
to cover the dangerous goods you ship. There are optional extension
modules which cover the IMDG and ADR road regulations
.Carriage
of Excepted Quantities by Air (1 day)
Are you
shipping 'small' quantities of dangerous goods by air? There
are procedures in the regulations offering options for shipment
of certian classes and small quantities of dangerous goods.
Complying
with these requirements can be of considerable benefit to shippers
who fall within these categories. For example, you may not have
to complete a shipper's declaration and may not need specification
packaging.
The course
is fully approved in the UK by the Civil Aviation Authority and
provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to ensure full
compliance with the Regulations, whilst at the same time benefiting
from the advantages of shipping Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities.
Aircraft
ULD Preparation / Pallet Building (1 day)
The airline
or handling agent keep rejecting your pallets or you are from an
airline and get involved with packing pallets. A badly packed pallet
can damage the aircraft and will also delay the shipment. In this
one day course we explain the principles of Aircraft ULD Preparation,
explaining how to build pallets, the weight and dimension restrictions
and the differences in aircraft cargo doors. At the end of the course,
delegates have a good understanding of all the issues and the calculations
they need to make to prepare a ULD.
Air Cargo
Security - Level E Handsearch and X-Ray module (formerly Level 1)
In addition
to our air cargo security courses (see UK Courses), we can arrange
training in the Handsearch and/or X-Ray module through an association with a specialised
training consultancy.
Dangerous Goods Awareness Training for Drivers
(½ or 1 day)
Under ADR
regulations, all drivers who carry dangerous goods must receive
awareness training. This covers such topics as the recognition of
UN numbers and Proper shipping names, knowledge of dangerous goods
markings and labelling as well as emergency procedures and reporting
requirements.
We have
developed half-day and one day courses to cover this requirement.
We can deliver this training or on a Saturday at no extra charge
.
Introduction
to Dangerous Goods (½ or 1 day)
New to dangerous
goods? Look no further than out ½ day Introduction to Dangerous
Goods. The course gives you an ideal grounding and is a good basis
for progressing to other courses. At the end of the course, you
will understand the regulations for the different modes of transport
and be familiar with the classes and packing groups. You will be
able to recognise the labels and be aware of documentation requirements.
Interpreting
and Understanding Safety Data Sheets (1 day)
Safety Data
Sheets are an essential part of the safe transport of dangerous
goods. They contain all the relevant information necessary
to comply with COSHH and CHIP.
Delegates
will learn: what is a Safety Data Sheet; when is a Safety Data Sheet
required; how to comply with COSHH and CHIP regultaions. The
course will also include a brief introduction to the Health &
Safety Executive's COSHH Essentials.
Diagnostic
Specimens & Infectious Substances
Awareness
(½ day)
This seminar
provides an introduction to the regulations governing the shipment
of diagnostic specimens and infectious substances. It is intended
for those who need an overview of the subject. There are major
changes in the classification criteria introduced in January 2005,
and we make you aware of these.
At the end
of the seminar, delegates will:
- Be aware of the modal regulations
- Be familiar with the relevant UN numbers
- Have updated themselves on recent and forthcoming changes in
the regulations
- Have an overview of labelling and documentation requirements
- Have an understanding of the road regulations for these products

responsibilities for those involved with ‘high consequence' dangerous
goods.
This
course is designed to meet the requirements of the legislation and
will provide delegates with the skills and knowledge needed to carry
out their j b roles effectively.
