Frequently Asked Questions?
Do I need a separate certificate to ship radioactive material?
Radioactive material is treated separately within the ADR and IMDG dangerous goods regulations. To meet the requirements of ADR / IMDG chapter 1.3 (on training), specialist training focused on radioactive material is required for those moving these substances by road and sea.
Does this course cover radioactive material shipped in excepted packages?
Yes, this course covers the movement of all class 7 consignments allowed by the IMDG and ADR regulations. If you just ship excepted packages or fully regulated radioactive materials, this course is relevant to you.
I am already qualified in the transport of radioactive material by air, do I still need to take this course to move radioactive material?
Air, road and sea transport are all governed by separate regulations. While there are several similarities between ADR, IMDG and IATA/ ICAO, they are still different regulations with different requirements. As with other types of dangerous goods, if you are qualified to ship by one mode, you are not automatically qualified to ship all three.
Is there an exam for this course?
No, there is no exam requirement on this course. You will be asked to complete exercises throughout the training and participate. On completion of the course, you will then be issued a certificate of attendance. We reserve the right to not issue a certificate for someone who doesn’t participate or keeps their camera off (so we can’t see they were paying attention).
