Before the course
- You will be asked to specify which exam you will require – shipper, acceptance or dual function exam.
- The exam is in a tamper proof envelope and will be sent with the workbook and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (if required). There will also be a tamper proof return envelope with the exam
- Under no circumstances can you open the envelope before the exam. The course tutor will watch you open the envelope, and, if there is any trace of prior interference, you will be disqualified from taking the exam.
- The type of exam will be noted on the tamper proof envelope - if you believe you have the wrong exam please contact Peter East as soon as possible.
Technical requirements
- Delegates are required to use an internet-connected laptop or desktop computer equipped with a microphone and camera. Cameras must be left on for the duration of the course.
- Delegates must also have Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Firefox installed. More information about specific technical requirements for different devices can be found here: https://knowledge.kaltura.com/help/before-you-join-kaltura-meetings
Before the exam
- You will be given time to have a comfort break before the exam begins
- You may have the following with you in the exam:
- IATA Dangerous Goods by Air Regulations
- Your Dangerous Goods by Air Workbook and other training materials you have received from Peter East Associates
- Calculator – please note that you will not be able to use the calculator on your mobile phone.
- Mobile phones - should be placed on silent and put out of reach
- Delegates also are not allowed to use smart watches, smart glasses or any other hand-held devices.
- The room must be distraction free
- You must be the only person present in the room while taking the exam, unless you are in a public office or shared workspace where complete privacy is not possible. In such cases, you must ensure that no one else is visible on camera and that there are no disruptions or interactions with others during the exam
- Using your webcam, you must show the room and desk space to the trainer/invigilator. Delegates will also be asked to show their tamperproof envelope to ensure it has not been opened in advance.
- Make sure that the room is well lit, especially towards the evening
- Please ensure that there isn't direct light shining onto the computer screen
- Your webcam should be angled so that you and your exam paper are visible to the invigilator.
- You will be asked to sign the student declaration at the back of your exam paper.
During the Exam
- The exam duration is 3 hours for dangerous goods by air certification and revalidation courses. Other specialised courses may have a shorter exam duration.
- Your microphone and webcam must be left on throughout the duration of the exam.
- You must not move out of view of the camera
- Please make sure to check your computer screen often during the exam. If your webcam or microphone cuts out or you loose connection at any point during the exam you MUST call the office on 0208 953 6721 immediately. If we fail to receive a call and you do not restablish a connection within 15 minutes you will automatically be assigned a fail.
- If you need a comfort break during the exam, please make the trainer aware by messaging the trainer using the private chat. Leave your exam and workbook in clear view of the webcam.
- Delegates may ask questions during the exam, however, the trainer cannot assist them with any answers. The trainer can provide clarification where a student is uncertain about a question.
End of the Exam
- When you have finished your exam, or the allocated time is up, you must message the tutor privately to notify them you have finished
- Place your exam into the pre-addressed tamper proof envelope provided, and seal it (this must be overseen by the invigilator)
- This will be collected along with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Marking of the exam will be completed by Peter East Associates and can take a minimum of 10 working days.
